The Haiti Micah Project

Combined Federal Campaign

In 2008, through board member Richard Frazer’s outreach efforts to Kathleen Smith, the local (Fredericksburg) Coordinator for the Potomac Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), HMP was approved for participation in the CFC. HMP was assigned a number, 86354, that any government worker nationwide can use to designate funds for donation to the Haiti Micah Project. The Potomac CFC includes Quantico, Dahlgren, and Fort A.P. Hill.

The regional CFCs hold Agency Fairs in September and in both 2009 and 2010 board members Bill Taczak, Jim May and Richard Frazer “spread the word” at as many locations as possible. HMP Volunteer Laura Fraedrich, did the “full-court press” in the DC Area. Additionally, volunteer Jan Taczak prepared a HMP table display, and Laura and another HMP volunteer LaNita De’Vore printed up thousands of HMP Brochures to be handed out at the Agency Fairs.

In April 2010 we began to reap the benefits of our efforts. We received a check for $2,500 from the Potomac CFC and were pleased with those results. Then we received the first distribution check from the National Capital Area and were astounded – the letter that came with the check promised a total of $57,299.38! Almost $60K from CFC!
